Consider this: : We live in a “just
in time” society. Manufacturers have developed delivery systems that get
the product to the end user just in time to avoid costly inventory .This
innovative product management system has been applied to information retrieval,
education, and even parenting! Whatever our need, our God is always there, and
just in time, to get us through any crisis or challenge. It has been said: “Obedience
to Jesus Christ is essential, but not compulsory.” God never coerces or
insists on being our Master. He never forces us to obey His laws. We do not receive
God's grace because we have kept His laws. No one has been able to keep them
perfectly except Jesus Christ. We receive God’s grace as a free gift. Yet,
what God can do with us when we feel weak— through times of illness, discouragement,
or what seems to be failure— is a testimony to His grace. No one fully
comprehends the grace of God in the middle of financial struggles, marital conflict,
or problems with children, but His grace makes the unbearable bearable! His promises
never fail. He is always just in time.
Discuss: When we set aside our own agendas in favor of God's
agenda, feelings of disappointment with God will dissipate because we know that
all of God's purposes will be accomplished. We will draw closer to each other
because we will be united in the same goal, rather than competing for God's favor.
Do you agree or disagree? Why?
Pause here and ask God for grace to obey His Word, knowing that
the more we walk in the light, the more light we receive. God’s power is
perfected in our weakness! He can accomplish extraordinary things if we depend
on His strength rather than our own. He will give us what we need when we need
it to help us walk in obedience to His Word.
The law tells me how crooked I am.
Grace comes along and
straightens me out.
DWIGHT LYMAN MOODY (1837–1899)
