A Closer Walk | DAY 12: Omnipotence

The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth,
in the seas and all their depths.

Consider this: A. W. Tozer once said, “To discuss the authority of Almighty God seems a bit meaningless, and to question it would be absurd. Can we imagine the Lord God of Hosts having to request permission of anyone or to apply for anything to a higher body? To whom would God go for permission? Who is higher than the Highest? Who is mightier than the Almighty? Whose position antedates that of the Eternal? At whose throne would God kneel? Where is the greater one to whom he must appeal?” These questions are especially important to consider when our interpersonal relationships, especially the closeness required in marriage, are tested to the breaking point and beyond. At such times, remember that God not only calls us to go beyond our perceived abilities; He has the power to help us to stretch to that next level so we can give Him the glory.

J.B. Phillips wrote a book entitled Your God Is Too Small. Think a moment about how big God is! His power becomes our strength because He is our ultimate Power Source. What a God we serve! He is big enough to create and rule this mighty universe, yet He chooses to live within our hearts.

Discuss: Share about a time God directed you to do something you did not like or want to do, and in the end, taught you to like it?

Pause here and give testimony to the greatness of God. Because He is dependable, you can start right now to practice trusting His promises every day until they become part of you.

We impoverish God’s ministry to us the moment we forget he is Almighty; the impoverishment is in us, not in Him.
